Inspired by 19th century mourning gowns, these elegant stays evoke the beauty of darkness. The silk fringe is antique and in very good condition but should be treated with care. Black moiré fabric was a fashionable choice in the 19th century and remains so today.
The Threshold Stays are made with an outer layer of upcycled black moiré fabric, inner layer of cotton twill, and a lining layer of cotton coutil. On the size 37, antique silk tassel fringe drapes across the neckline and velvet binding finishes the bottom edge. For the size 32, the trim is a satin loop, with moiré binding (see last six photos). Strapless, back lacing, heavily boned.
The size 37 and size 32 have different trim across the neckline as well as different binding. The final six photos are of the size 32.
Please note on the size 37 there is a small reddish mark on the fabric, see photo 11 for a closeup. This mark isn’t noticeable when the piece is being worn.
All Lineage Garments incorporate hand sewing and therefore have small variants unique to each piece.

Sizing: Sizes are determined by natural bust measurement. We recommend taking your natural bust measurement, then choosing a size 2-4″ smaller. Cup sizes over DD please choose a bust size 3-4" smaller than your bust measurement. For reference, model is wearing size 37 and has measurements of bust 42", waist 35". If your measurements are on the high end of the ranges given below, you may have a lacing gap.
Size 32 fully closed measures: Bust 32' waist 25", side rise 8". Recommended for natural body measurements of: Bust 34-37", waist 26-29".
Size 37 fully closed measures: Bust 37", Waist 30", side rise 8". Recommended for natural body measurements of: Bust 39-43", waist 32-36".
Fabric content: Outer layer upcycled synthetic moiré. Inner layer cotton twill, lining layer cotton coutil. Antique silk tassel trim (size 37), modern satin trim (size 32). Metal grommets, synthetic boning, satin ribbon lacing, velvet binding (size 37), moiré binding (size 32).
Care instructions: Spot clean by hand. Do not machine wash. We recommend wearing a washable layer underneath your stays, as was done historically. This helps extend the life of your stays and keeps them cleaner.
